Gottfried Gfrerer – Europas bester Slide-Gitarrist
Nahezu zehn Jahre musste man auf einen neuen Tonträger von Gottfried Gfrerer warten. „Scoop & Run“ ist sein mittlerweile drittes Album und wird am 27. März 2009 veröffentlicht. Die Virtuosität des in Wien lebenden Kärntners ist atemberaubend, seine kompositorischen Qualitäten von nicht minderer Güte und auch Gfrerers Stimme ist über die Jahre fest und prägnant geworden. Blues, Folk, World und Singer/Songwriter-Klänge verwebt der Musiker zu einem dichten, spannungsgeladenen Soundteppich, der immer wieder faszinierende Nuancen bereithält.

Die brandneue CD „Scoop & Run“ von Gottfried Gfrerer erscheint am 27. März 2009 auf dem österreichischen Label BUNTSPECHT. Auf dem Album sind auch Gastmusiker wie Hans Theessink (NL), Dakota Dave Hull (USA) oder Klaus Pérez-Salado (SP) zu hören.
In den Liedern von Songwriter Gottfried Gfrerer kommen sowohl Blues-, Funk- und Rock- aber auch World- und Volksmusik-Elemente vor. Dominierend dabei ist die Slidegitarre – seine große Liebe – auf der er einen unverwechselbaren Stil entwickelt hat: Stets ist immer alles aus einem Guss, eine abwechslungsreiche Einheit.
Musikalisch im Zentrum
Seine ersten beiden Solo-Alben erhielten international ausgezeichnete Kritiken und werden nicht nur in Europa, sondern auch in Übersee gespielt. Gottfried Gfrerer gibt sein Wissen rund um das Slidegitarrenspiel unter anderem bei internationalen Workshops weiter und Eric Roche holte ihn als Dozent an die „London Music School“.
Gottfried Gfrerer hält sich auf der Bühne physisch zumeist im Hintergrund und steht doch musikalisch im Zentrum. Liebenswert, bescheiden aber in seiner Kunst schlicht berückend genial.

Gottfried Gfrerer ist übrigens nicht nur international anerkannter Slidegitarrist, sondern auch einer der ganz wenigen in Europa tätigen Resonatorgitarrenbauer. Gfrerers Eigenbauten basieren auf Modellen der Firma National (USA) aus den 30-er Jahren. Jede Gitarre wird mit viel Geschick, handwerklichem Können und Liebe zum Detail selbst entworfen und gebaut. Alles Einzelstücke - maßgeschneidert auf die Bedürfnisse seines Gitarrenspiels. Fans of Gottfried Gfrerer have had to wait almost ten years for his new album. His third CD "Scoop & Run" will finally be released on 27 March 2009. The Vienna-based musician's virtuosity on the guitar is breathtaking and he is an excellent composer as well; over the years he has also honed his strong and distinctive voice. Fusing blues, folk, world music and singer-songwriter tunes, Gottfried Gfrerer creates a tightly woven, intriguing tapestry of sound that keeps revealing new and fascinating nuances.

In his songs Gottfried Gfrerer blends blues, funk and rock with world music and folk. The slide guitar his great love plays the dominant role in his music. He has developed his very own, unmistakeable style on it, creating a sound that is both coherent and full of variety at the same time.

His previous two solo CDs received rave reviews internationally and are played not only in Europe but overseas as well. Gottfried Gfrerer passes on his slide guitar expertise at international workshops and also teaches at the London Music School on the invitation of Eric Roche.

Gottfried Gfrerer is not only a slide guitarist of international renown but also one of the very few people in Europe who builds his own resonator guitars. His guitars are based on 1930s models by the US company National. Each guitar is made with great skill, craftsmanship and attention to detail. All of them are unique pieces, custom-built to suit his guitar playing. It is this intimate relation with his instrument and its creation and the in-depth knowledge of its qualities that puts Gottfried David Gfrerer in a league of his own and makes him one of the best slide guitarists in the world.
